Does this dash look like it was cut?

Does the hole for the radio look like it was already cut? Hole seems kinda big to me.

Re: Does this dash look like it was cut?

Cool, I was freaking for a moment. When I cut my dash to install my stereo, is there going to be a gap at the top and bottom? The hole just looks a little tall from top to bottom, but I haven't received my stereo yet to check the fit.

Re: Does this dash look like it was cut?

If you cut it to fit a 1 DIN size radio, then yes, there will be a gap on the top and the bottom.

not cut, there would be one big hole if the dash was cut.

Measure it and I'll compare it against mine. I just pulled my radio out over the weekend.

Re: Does this dash look like it was cut?

That is the correct size. It is infact a tad bigger than the stock 2 nob radio but the radios face plate covers it. If you cut it out to that size to fit a new radio then you will have gaps as the new radios dont have as thick/wide of a face plate like the old ones so you will have gaps top an bottom.

Re: Does this dash look like it was cut?

I don't know if it is cut or not, it does look a little tall.

What type of deck (radio) are you getting? If it's a newer style radio\CD player there will be a tiny gap at the top & bottom, BUT, there will be a face plate that comes on the deck that will cover the gap..... If it's an older stock type radio then the back plate that was mentioned above will work. If you need one of the older plates, the best place may be a salvage yard, I din't think a radio shop will have one.

I don't know,so maybe I shoulda stayed out of this. I asked at the local sound shop about a radio for our years and the guy told me there is a kit which includes a plate.I just assumed I had this plate in there already from the previous (orig) owner.-

I have an alpine 2 knobber and there is that gap on the top and bottom also. I sure would like to know where that filler plate came from so I could buy one

Re: Does this dash look like it was cut?

I just measured it. 2 1/8" top to bottom. I'm gonna be pi$$ed if there a gap though. Does a newer type stereo come with a plate or am I going to have to find one?
