Wanting it Lower

Hey guys, i have a 79 longbed, and i have already lowered it 5/7 with a western lowering kit. I have just bought a set of Boss 301 20 inch rims, and yet to get tires for them. But what i want is to make it as low as possible when i get my 20s on. So im looking to cut the coils and get the lowering hangers for the rear. The hangers will drop it another 1-2 inches, but is they anything else i can get for the rear? I will just cut the coils to match the stance of the rear.

thanks

Re: Wanting it Lower

Sounds like you would be getting close to the bottom of the barrel with a static drop that low. Assuming that you have a flip kit for the rear, you could try some lowering blocks for more drop.

Re: Wanting it Lower

I noticed somethin somebody else here did that I now wish I would have. The drop hangers only have one hole to set-up your leafs on. Somebody here had drilled new holes a little bit higher on the hangers where the leafs mount so the truck would sit a little lower. Good idea on whoevers behalf.

Re: Wanting it Lower

yea, im looking to do something like that, but i need to see if 2 inches is the lowerest they will go. I wanted to bag my truck, but my dad talked me out of it, my truck rides nice as it is, but id like to see it lower. so how would you drill a hole in the drop hangers?

Re: Wanting it Lower

you might have to get a bigger notch and cut the bed floor for the rear end, for that much drop, my truck had a flip kit and drop shackels, the rear end was about a 1inch from the bottom of the bed floor and about a 1/2 inch from the c-notch on top of that the ride was horrible

Re: Wanting it Lower

haha yeah, i go to carshows at set em up jacks everyonce in a while, but im usually cruising my gold 80 camaro, when it isnt in repair. It was good for a year, but now fuel pump went out, alternator, sounds like water pump, master cylinder (replaced once, then replacement was faulty) and some other brake work. Plus, shes starting to form a little rust, shes just itchin for a restoration with a nice little 377 sbc. If your ever coming down to a car show in town, ill try to come check your rig out. just send me a pm if you are.
