73-87 4x4 axle swap to 72 4x4

I have a '72 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 and want to find out if I can swap out the axles from '73-'87 1/2 ton 4x4 trucks. I'm planning on a future upgrade with a 6" lift and 35's, so I want at least a 4.10 gear with locking diff. Can anyone suggest a particular option to look out for that would have a 4.10 locker?

The front bolts in. The rear will need the spring pads changed. Lockers were optional on some of the 14B's found in 3/4tons and 1 tons. If you use a 1 ton rear, it bolts in as well. 4.10's are very common in the one tons, as well. As are 4.56's.

Do you mean the spring pads will need to be moved or swapped out?

Moved in the rear. Front stays the same.

Unless it's a 1 ton rear, which matches our spring spacing...
