Exhaust Donut
I have an exhaust donut to replace.Is there any tips for making one last?I actually got pretty lucky and the nuts turned right off the studs.I was really dreading having to pull the manifold and remove a broken stud.

Get a short piece of exhaust tubing that will fit snugly in side the donut. Cut it to the right length so it won't interfere with the compression of the donut.

I second this idea. Go to an exhaust shop and have an experienced tech flare out the end of the exhaust to allow the donut to fit inside it, then take a small section of the original diameter exhaust pipe and put it inside the donut. Donut acts as a gasket instead of a sure location for an exhaust leak. If it is done right, you could get a few years out of it for sure...been three years for mine.

I agree, only way to go. I have mangled too many of the soft ones, they do need an inside tube for support.

they will go easy if your exhaust is bolted to something and not on a rubber hanger
