Anybody use Percy's Aluminum Header Gaskets

I've given up on Mr. Gasket so I think I'm gonna try a set of Percy's and see how they work. Anyone use them? If so, what did you think?

That's all I will settle for on my collector flanges. (assuming we are talking about the dead soft aluminum type). Of course, I have only had 1 set. (They have never failed - whereas all the other did).

I haven't had any problems with my header gasket's, but if I ever do, that's exactly what I would use.

I've had a set of their collector gaskets on my truck for two years,and their going strong! Of course the truck hasn't run yet either.

I have been using the regular ole manifold gaskets that you can get for about 8 bucks. They have the little ears on them, u can start all your bolts then just slip them in and the can even be reused sometimes if you need to take them loose for some reason. One side is a metalic. (silver) I've never had em leak.

I have been using the Mr. Gasket ones. The only time I have had a blow out is when the bolts have backed off.

camino kid if you cut the flanges on each side of the center tubes the bolts will keep the bolts from coming loose.

I saw your post on this Mudder; it's a great idea. I'm gonna give the Percy's a shot and if they don't work, I'm gonna cut the flanges.

Look close at the flanges on the side of the center tubes. Cut each flange twice. When I bought these headers I took them half way out of the box and cut the flanges before I sent them to Air Borne Coatings to have coated.

They are great... I could never get a set of Hooker SBC headers to seal until I decided to spend the cash on Percy's.

I bought some copper ones from advance or somewhere and have never had a prooblem with them

I got this small ticking noise coming from the headers , top or bottom, I'm not sure which it is. It makes the most noise (Ticking)from stepping on the gas. What do you think? Coming from header to engine or header collectors? Let me know. My collectors are not that great, I put double gaskets on them and still have this ticking noise. I had one bolt backed out a few treads on the passenger rear header to engine

You have a leak somewhere. Probably around where that bolt is coming loose. The bolts back out because th flanges were warped when they welded the flanges to the tubes. Cut the flanges like I expained and use the gaskets I told you and I bet you wont have anymore problems.

When I saw this I was thinking just a plain hacksaw would do the trick. But I have cutoff wheels for my grinder so thats what I will use for mine WHENEVER I find the time to full with my truck.

Installed the header gaskets this weekend (in 95 degree heat, fun) and I could tell the difference right away. I'm gonna do the collectors (Percy's again) next and hopefully that solve my exhaust issues.

Dont forget to torque them back to spec after bringing it up to operating temp a few times! After that, you shouldnt have to worry about them again.

Yeah, they do a good sealing job. I think Summit also sells their own named brand too.

Thanks! Re-torqued them after a good run on Saturday and will do it again in a week or so.

Just my 2 cents: I was going to go with Those dead blow soft aluminum gaskets, but when the Autozone tried giving me the most expensive set, which were round port big block, I decided to go elsewhere.

I'm using the normal little eared buggers, and haven't had an issue yet. Bought header bolts, and put loc-tite on them. torqued them down. heated it, re-torqued, despite not being able to get any more turns. and she's sittin' pretty at the moment.
