After. Just dont run a glass one. In the engine compartment is easier to work on also.

There seem to be differing opinions on this from time to time, some say before and some say after.

I run mine after the fuel pump because I have heard running it before the fuel pump can cause vapor lock.

No matter what a metal fuel filter is the best, they tend to hold up better and don't break or melt.

Both. I like to run an inline filter between the tank & pump. Then have a filter in the carb inlet. If you have a brand new tank it's not necessary for one from the tank to the pump.

you can pump sand through a mechanical pump and it won't phase it

Whats the reasoning behind putting a filter before a electric pump? If you are driving a chevy newer model which has a in tank unit fuel pump it's filter is after the pump.

scroll down to page 2. They actually recommend you run a T fitting with TWO filters before the pump - that just seems like plain overkill. But, a 5 dollar pepboy steel filter is some cheap insurance and keeps its unsightly arse out of my engine bay.

I wonder if thats just a way to say warranty void in case their pump fails? Extra insurance sorta deal. I read that Thanks. I wouldn't put a dual filter setup unless I was running a drag car or the indy 500 or an airplane. One filter should be plenty on most applications.

Edelbrock also says my warranty is voided if I don't have a filter before the pump on my TBI system

Don't most EFI systems still use a "sock" or strainer of some type before the pump? I think as long as the pre-pump filter has little to no restriction, it won't tend to cause vapor-locking or cavitation.

With a set-up like that fuel would take the path of least resistance, thus if one filter started clogging, it would use the other until the resistance equaled that of the other, then it would swap back, and again, and again.. Makes no sense unless someone just wanted twice the filter capacity. If that's the case, run a larger capacity filter.

Maybe I'm reading it different than is intended though.

they have sock type screen filter that fuel has to go thru before entering the actual pump
