Early 90's steering wheel installation question
Has anyone succesfully installed this type of steering wheel? I had one on a '70 C-20 I had parted out, letting the entire column go with the steering wheel without looking to see how it was installed. Needed the money unfortunately, but I loved how it looked in the interior.
I would post a picture, but I'm photo attached challenged right now. The steering wheel has a 4 spoke design, very thick grip area, and has the Bowtie logo on the horn button. Great condition for $12.50 purchase from the local junkyard. Any help is appreciated.

it'll be a bolt on swap. The horn will take some fanagalin though.

Thanks for the view/response. However, I wouldn't have posted the question if it was just an easy bolt on swap. The "center bolt", if you will, on my '72 stock steering column is smaller in diameter than the steering wheel bolt opening. And the stock column also sports a standard thread pattern.
The "center bolt" of the column I took the steering wheel off of had splines, which are also in the steering wheel center hub for securing to the column. I asked the question because I wanted to know what I'd be looking at to get this steering wheel to fit my '72 column. Anyone? Thank you for any help.

I have a 92 van wheel on a 71 column. I'm pretty sure my 71 came with a washer and I just reused it. I'll post a picture later of the backside for what I did for the horn.

I've installed quite a few of these 4 spoke wheels... they are in fact a bolt on swap.

The horn contact/signal canceller is stock from the donor vehicle. Spacer is 5/16 to 11/32 tall overall attached with 2-sided foam tape. This could have been done with a spring but I used what I had at the time.

71tahoe. I'll have to disagree with that... ESP if we are taling about a stock non tilt column.
Here's a how to I did up a few years ago; http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ad.php?t=79039 The non tilt columns use the horn contact ring.slip ring/ turn signal cancel apring... what ever you want to call it, was used as a bearing rueface, and later models were not. Yep, my solution was quick (as far as thinking it out) and dirty. I needed more leverage than a grant wheel could provide when I had to re-install my manual steering.
I definitely like your solution better as the horn would occasionally honk when making turns. |

Thank you 71tahoe and Longhorn Man the help is greatly appreciated. I guess I should've mentioned in the post that the stock column is a non-tilt.
Longhorn - The steering wheel in the link you sent, is the exact one I have. I'll do what I can to post pics of my dilema. I tried the search before I posted, but I guess my wording wasn't exact. Thank you for the link.
