Re: Original original original.....
Mark, the windshield gasket should have the stainless moulding. That is a great easy resto.I love finding unmolested trucks like that.It would be rare to find absolutely nothing changed out from original.
To answer the question about the Parchment interior and dashpad/column/steering wheel colors, yes that is factory.A Parchment interior would only have the seat, seatbelts, visors, and door panels matching. The factory used Sandlewood for the dash pad, steering wheel, and column, unless w/tilt.Then,those pieces would be black. I`ve had a few originals.I only still have the white GMC.Some with changed wheels like my CustomCamper: Here`s a K/10 I had: My GMC with typical period accessories like fuel tanks and cargo hooks (and I painted the headlight bezels) :

Re: Original original original.....
What I find interesting is that whoever that was traded in a 1947 Chevy pickup for the '71. That's just awesome

Here's my original 72 with 63K on the odometer. Have a different carb and intake on it because I was too impatient to get it on the road, but still have the originals. Interior just as Special K stated.

Re: Original original original.....
Its great to see the "base models" preserved also.Excellent example of the green shortbed. Simple standard trucks tend to dissappear over time when the owners start to replace the painted parts with chrome parts.By the late 70's, the traditional standard truck (painted hubcaps and front bumpers) were no longer manufactured.Lets keep all the history alive.

Re: Original original original.....
I love that color blue.
That is a beautiful truck....how long have you had it. Thanks Mark, I have had it about 4 years. I drive it on the weekends when its nice. Entered my first show last Sunday and got 3rd int he truck class. Tried to get home before a storm hit us and the truck got rained on for the first time in about 11 years. Jeff

Re: Original original original.....
After seeking out highly optioned trucks for years I`ve come around to cravig a totally base truck. It doesn`t get anymore casual than that.Totally unpretentious, just a motorized cart.I love the pur of a straight six(if you can hear it)and the old long throw from second to third. When do you ever see someone working that column shift any more ,slippin`the clutch a bit,and rollin`out in that high 1st gear?
Here`s one:

Re: Original original original.....
man that's a clean truck. I agree about the stocker trucks because i've never found any of these highly sought after trucks that i've always been looking for like the CSTs and that so i've grown a love for just the base models

Re: Original original original.....
There's something about the simple, unmolested beauty of these trucks. I find it odd that these are the rarity now, because 40 years ago 95% of the looked like this. It does take a certain discipline to keep from modding them that I've never been able to achieve, even though I love the stockers.

Re: Original original original.....
Wow, lots of nice stockers there. That's the way I like 'em too.
Here's my baby pretty much the way she looks today only the oak boards are long gone. She's pretty much the way she was off the showroom floor. I've added power steering. The tires and clutch are not stock nor is the rear view mirror. I've added correct early bumper guards and fancy 67-68 full wheel covers. The picture was taken several years ago the same day she got a little hail damage from a severe storm. It was a big bummer!

Re: Original original original.....
My next door neighbor had a '73 GMC SWB fleet when I was a younger that was light blue with white bumpers with the factory rims and caps. It had the amber parking lights and the deep 2 bar grill unique to '73 and '74 and I have never forgot how clean of a little truck it was. I used to remember sitting there on porch looking at the back of it and I vividly remember the white rear sport bumper and the white GMC letters right in the middle of the gate. My dad had a super clean black '78 SWB Sierra Heavy Half (pictured below) at the time that had chrome bumpers and rallies, but I there was always something about that baby blue GMC. It just had a look to it. I sure wish I had a pic of it!
