I'm a Proud Father Today

so this afternoon after getting cooked at the local swimming pool, my wife made me sit down and watch a chick flick with her. it actually wasn't to bad.

but the kids were off playing around, keeping themselves occupied. after the movie was over, i checked in on the kids and to my surprise, found that my boys had built something pretty damn sweet IMO. Not only was it a 67-72, but they used some ingenuity to make it really sweet. I'll let the pic and youtube video speak for itself:

Re: I'm a Proud Father Today

btw, my sons are 8 and 12. the 8 year old provided the materials, the 12 year old did most of the work.

after they showed me this, i helped them wire in a switch so that the wires were less of a fire hazzard.

cool thing is, they didn't break the truck to do it. they just removed the hood and door via the screws. we've put the P side door back on, but we'd need to mod the hood hinge to get it to work too.

reminded me of myself when i was that age, taking cheapo R/C cars and wiring up bigger motors and more batteries to them

That thing flat out moved! When they're doing things like this now, can't wait to see what they turn out on a full size project!

Tell them that their project was sweet!

Pretty neat. Tell them they did a good job. You need to take a vid outdoors with more light.

Awsome! I can see it now: Local Boys engineer electric motors for 67-72 Chevy trucks with
500HP output.
