Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

You need to stop moving so often!

At least it didn't get wet or get any bugs on the grille on the trip

But seriously, that really sucks

Which is why I'm not really upset about it. Especially on the front... saved some potential future bug from getting splattered on that paint by removing any chance of there being paint.

Wow...very sorry to hear of your misfortune at the hands of a company that doesn't care a thing about your belongings. I'd be livid as I am sure you are. I can only hope you get everything replaced with a minimum of hassle on your end.

Knowing how long you've been working with this project makes it suck even more. What a bummer!!!

At least you can joke about it a little. Although it probably made you throw up when you seen it(I know I would have)

Let the squirming begin... I submitted an estimate and they've started backpedaling on their "commitment" to make things right. Time to pull the police report for the accident and remind them that they'll have to cough up legal fees after I beat them sideways in court.

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

Is this a government move? I noticed your Armed Forces Club moniker. When my youngest son came back home and the gummint moved his stuff, he had several months to file a claim with the base nearest us (LRAFB). I see that you paid extra for the movement of your truck. Even so, if the government was a part of this movement, it looks to me like you have a name of a government employee that you will be contacting.

Whatever happens, "I feel your pain" (I miss Bill) and hope you can get restitution for your losses, without any unexpected hassles. Expect them, huh?

That's ridiculous!!!! I would have been so pissed when I saw that. It looked like you had made some good progress on the truck and I love that color. I think they learned their shipping skills from him:

Hope you get it all worked out and don't let them get away with it.

That sucks!

I feel your pain (though mine wasn't as bad). The trucking company that hauled mine up here from TN, with a freshly powdercoated frame, wrapped chains around the front and rear crossmembers of the truck to tie it down....needless to say both were DESTROYED

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

what I hate also, is the last time a shipping company moved me and loaded my car in their semi as well to ship to albq NM, was about 14 years ago, well we lived out of suitcases for 3 weeks, they finally called and said I owe extra because of weight? and they wont deliver until I pay x amount more. I argued and they said they would also start charging storage, so I said, drop the car off, they were still in KC, and I have my brother get it and then bring me my stuff! I turned them into the BBB, but didnt hear anything after that..

hopefully they will make good.

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

Bummer about your stuff. We own a moving company here. We try to dicourage people from having us haul their autos. If it was a reputable company you should get full coverage for the damage. I can't believe they hired a day laborer to drive the truck. We have to jump through many hoops to get our drivers certified to drive. We would lose our franchise if we did something that dumb.

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

I would, or my lawyer would be on the phone with their insurance company. If you have insurance on the truck I would have your insurance company come out and document all the damage. Your insurance company might handle the whole situation for you and save you a bunch of headaches. Sorry to hear about the whole situation. Best of luck.

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

I have moved twice in my life, everytime I have rented u-haul trucks and have my brothers, dad and friends help me do so, I rather feed them and pay their flights back home knowing that my stuff will be as safe as possible, even thou an accident could occur it does not seem like they crashed purposely if they are a 1/2 way descent company then you should not have any trouble.
Unfortunetly moving companies are notorious for being scumbags at least in this part of the nation...
Contact your insurance company and let them handle it for you !!!

Five months in and they're still jerking my chain... their current insinuation is that the estimate I provided them is to completely refinish the entire vehicle. Uh, I don't think so... unless they think I'm sending the truck to Maaco.

make sure the Estimate is completely itemized and broken down so they know what it is going too but they have to pay one way or another

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

Latest from bizarro-world is that they want to give me a "replacement" truck... that they apparently don't even own.

Quote:
I’m not vehicle expert, but I have worked with my share of engine/tranny swaps, lowered vehicles and the like.

The current owner states: the body is all straight, no suspension upgrades, new interior, straight 6, 4 on the floor, newer tires and rims, metal body with oak slats is perfect, newer paint, and no bondo as far as he knows.
Holey moley.

Re: When you hire the movers based on their car hauling experience...

I would have itemized everything with the driver than quit talking to them.I would have then called a lawyer and told him what the quote was and how much I wanted. He would have to add his fees and court costs to that. The figure would have been enough to make them want to pay what your loss was.Start itemizing the time spent getting quotes, calling them, running doen replacements and everything else you can think of.Charge this time at OT rate for your job. That should get their attention.
