Stock Steel Wheels?
Does anyone know where to buy a set of stock (type) steel wheels? I have a 1972 K10 Stepside and would like a stock look. It has the 6 lug wheels now and I believe the wheels are 15x8.
I am looking for a stock wheel. Were the stock wheels white? Wheel Vintique has a series 62 O.E. in steel that I have included a picture. Is this close to the stock wheel? Does any company remanufacture the caps to fit this type wheel? dog dish for a 4x4 and if so what color were the bow ties? |

Stock 15x8...If you do a search there have been a lot of threads on this style wheel and where to come up with them. They are hard to come by.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
Tcb-1 has a set that he might sell, so maybe you could PM him. These wheels came on 80's Military CUCV 4x4 Blazers (among other things) so you could browse around the net looking for places that sell or part out the Military CUCV's truck and Blazers. I have 2 of them on the rear of my beater truck. You will have to find the hubcaps used, as they don't repop them. Mine are 67-68 caps that I bought from a board member. The 15 X 8 62 series Wheel Vintiques wheels look pretty much just like them. The one you have from their site looks a little funny because its a bigger diameter rim.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
I had a '76 Blazer and bought a set of 15x8's at a carport sale for $30, then sold them for $60....in '82.
Wheel Vintiques are good wheels, if you don't find what you're looking for. Have them powder-coated in a color of your liking and you're all set.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
yep I have a set, but you'd have to strip the bad powdercaoting job off first! actually I talked to a sandblaster today and he said I could just get the face stripped leaving the powdercoated finish on the inside and on the outside of the rim. then paint the face. actually, it would work like a charm! but I don't know if I can pry them out of my hands 'cause they are pretty rare and cool!
shipping to NH would be ridiculous though. sent you a pm James....... ironically, it's about rims. Chevloray is right about Wheel Vintiques, but I heard ordering from them is a byotch! you have to pay up front and wait. some guys over on Jalopyjournal have horror stories of Wheel Vintique rims. BUT they have cool stuff and it's not priced that bad!

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
Mark, I just stumbled upon a complete set of those at a swap meet 2 months ago. They're really heavy! Mine are nice and clean also. They don't look like they've ever been used.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
Those are very nice. I have a set that looks just like them, but with a gold bow tie. Not sure what they are off of, but I really needs some wheels to go under them.

Re: Stock Steel Wheels?
UPDATE:
Stockton Wheel Company will make a set for $145/ea powder coated. Here is a blurb from their web site Quote:
Luckily they are less than an hour from me so I won't have to pay shipping. Also, it will be nice to know that the wheels I am buying are straight and true. www dot stocktonwheel dot com Last edited by 71RULES!; 07-28-2008 at 07:35 PM. |

I have a set of stock`71 K/10 wheels.Not the big 8x15s.I believe those were later.These 1/2t 4wds were offered with 8.25x16.5 wheels for flotation option.I also have the caps.They aren`t perfect,but can be restored.
