Got the garage roof on...

With the help of my ol' '89 4x4, and some friends and neighbours, the new shop is nearing an important milestone.....

.....roof trusses.

Yours truly waiting for the next truss.

Ever see it done this way before?

Notice the yellow rope on the end of the truss....

Re: Got the garage roof on...

I forgot to point out the special truss design (see the one on the ground in this photo from yesterday). Except for the two outside girder trusses, the other nine main trusses have a special design that provides two feet of additional headroom to allow for a vehicle hoist.

Although there would easily have been enough interior height to raise most cars without this design, I wanted to be sure that my Z71 Tahoe (or any other tall vehicle) would have plenty of headroom.

I'd rather be up on the roof today, but it's been raining heavily all morning.

Re: Got the garage roof on...

Progress is slow due to the constant rain and thunderstorms we've had around the lower Great Lakes this year.

But, I got six hours on the roof today before the lightning returned.

When you look straight down, the ground is far, far away.

Silly American is wrong.

Centre is ENGLISH (just ask the English...........it's their language). Center is American. Écouter is French.

Thanks for the kind words though.

FYI. it's not a insulation. it's Typar Housewrap - UV protected - Energy-saving air filtration barrier - Guaranteed to survive sun, wind, rain, snow and construction - Wrap around house framing before brick or siding is installed - Save energy by keeping outside air from penetrating through construction gaps and by keeping conditioned air inside from leaking out - Breathable to allow water vapor in wall cavities to escape, so it won't cause mildew and rot and it's good stuff

Re: Got the garage roof on...

In three hours this morning, I got another side of the roof covered with plywood. Then, the rain started.

We've already surpassed the annual rainfall record, and it's only August.
