89 tbi fuel pump
I have a 89 suburban tbi motor and tranny put in my 85 c-10. Can I use my stock saddle tank off the truck and shorten the electric fuel pump out of the suburban to make it fit in the tank. what problems would I have or is it even possible. Whats the best route or advice for me to make this motor run.. thanks ahead of time ..

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
Ditch the saddle tank. Install the rear Suburban tank.

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
if you are going to use a remote mounted electric fuel pump, your going to need to find out the opperating pressure of the stock suburban tbi pump and match the new pump to that. you will also need a fuel return line and possibly a bypass type fuel regulator.

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
Buy a sending unit for a 87-95 pickup and use the parts off the Burb and drop it in your current tank.

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
my current tank is the one off the c10 truck. i beleived that are called saddle tanks. the suburban tank has a mase or tunnels inside it while the one off the truck is just four walls.

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
Holley makes pumps for TBI fuel pressure. TBIs require 15 PSI.
In tank fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel. Frame rail pumps are not cooled and are at the mercy of heat. |

Re: 89 tbi fuel pump
i went ahead and bought a stock gas tank of another 89 suburban. i drop the electric pump (stock sending unit) in the tank and now the truck wont stay on. it turns and tries to crank but it wont stay on. i ran the sending unit direct to a switch. yall think that i got a wire issue...
