Re: Who is running a Blazer tank.....How low does it hang?

Lane
I just opened up the lower frame with a sawzall and a grinder, inch and a half or so on each side, hole saw or a torch for the filler hose through the frame.Used the camaro straps and fabbed hangers for them. Also made two 1/4 x 1 inch straps for the top.I re-bent the stock silverado fuel lines and used them.Took a little while but works great.

Re: Who is running a Blazer tank.....How low does it hang?

I used a 87 chevy van tank. Had to take off about 1/2 on the bottom frame lip, but not to bad. It holds 20 gallons and has a EFI fuel sending unit for my 5.3 swap. It does hang down but is angled up in the back so it is hardly noticeable.

I think there is a jeep tank that works well. A chevy sending unit can be put in with no modifications and doesnt hang as low, but only holds 16 gallons

Re: Who is running a Blazer tank.....How low does it hang?

Here is a link to the jeep tank. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ight=jeep+tank

It was the CJ tank I was think of but after a quick search I read where a couple of people were using one from cheroke as well.

I dont have a pic of my tank in the truck but do have one with it sitting on the ground. I made 2 mod to it.. Cut a hole for the 0-33ohm sending unit (20$) and took it to an old school radiator shop that soldered up the orignial filler neck and soldered in a new one on the top. That costed me 65 bucks but prevented me from having to chop a hole though the frame for the filler hose. I droped in the fuel sending unit with a gm ep381 fuel pump (great for a slightly modded motor) and its been working great for a year now...

Fastrucken, can you measure how low below the frame it hangs?
Thanks for the info!

Re: Who is running a Blazer tank.....How low does it hang?

It hangs down 7 inches at the deepest point. I had to move the rear cross member back some but it make a great place to bolt the straps to. Got a couple of pics not sure how muich they will help though.

Also showed a pic what I have been doing for a filler. The plan is to find a metal brake and bend up a box to house the neck and match it to the stake pocket box. I like the idea of being able to put gas in the truck with a loaded bed

Hey John........thats what was cool about the tank.....it didnt hang down at all!!!! It fit perfectly inside the C-channel of the frame on both sides. I dont know what the capacity of the tank was........ancient history.
