2.5" lift options

I just want a modest 2.5" lift to get the stance just right on my '72. I've never messed with leaf springs so I'm a complete noob when it comes to lifts. Do I want springs all the way around or can I live with blocks in the rear? Should I buy shocks with the kit or get them seperate? This will be a mostly street driven blazer and I don't want to break the bank buying the lift. Is it too much to ask to find a good riding, easy to install, economical lift kit?

Oh, and if anyone wants to help install it, I'll have all the ice cold adult beverages you can drink.....

I think 2 inch would give your blazer a nice stance, i'm planning on going with something similar. That kit is 461 with shocks which I don't think is bad. You will still be unlevel in the rear though about two inches. Contact the complany and find out how hard it would be to swap the rear springs for 4 inch springs and if the cost would be affected.

Oh and it's really easy to do, just get out the breaker bar to get the old bolts off and start spraying them with PB blaster or another penetrating oil now.

Do you run a hardtop ever? If not it shouldn't sag much in the rear I was told

You can get a shackle flip for the back to avoid blocks.

You could always have the springs rearched and bring it up some. Look in the yellow pages under spring.... Great lookin' K5.

If I were going through the knuckle bustin' fun of installing a lift I'd go 4". Not to high but you can run 35's on the road and still look good on with what you have now.

That's a good kit. Haven't used that exact one, but Tuff Country is personally my favorite.

I'm pleased with the Tuff Country springs I've used in the past. For your intended usage I wouldn't be worried about any problems using blocks in the rear.

If you went with the shackle flip your rear axle is going to move forward a bit and that tends to look odd in the wheel well. A Zero Rate from OffRoad Design will get it back to where you want it but that would add yet another inch of lift.

You might consider an adjustable shock is comfort is what your going for. Rancho 9000's are nice and have a good range of adjustability. Bilstein also makes several very nice shocks that i've heard give a very good ride quality but I think they cost the most. Look for Bilstien 5100's I believe. AJ72 has them on his truck, maybe he can chime in.

I'm running 5125's on mine. Great ride. Like Jtrux said, they're not cheap....about $85 each. The shocks you choose are just as important as the spring. Lousy shocks will make even the best springs ride terrible.

If you're going with the shocks on the site, you should get the 8000's. Those are designed for full-size trucks. The 6000's are meant for small and mid-size. The 8000s are good shocks. The nitrogen gas pressure will reduce "fade" and gives quicker shock response compared to the hydro shocks.
