I bought a Honda

I gotta share this w/ you guys. My boss offered me his '95 Honda Accord w/ 106k miles and a new timing belt for the low, low price of...........$1500. MERRY F'n CHRISTMAS to ME!!! I couldnt believe it! Needless to say, I jumped all over it and I've been driving all over Atlanta for the last week. I put a full tank of gas in it last Monday and it's just now touching E w/ about 425 miles on the trip odometer.
REEEEAL NICE CLARK.

Oh, and I didnt post pictures because Im sure all of you can close your eyes and see this thing as it's the most common tin can on the road...yeah, it's the Champagne goldish one, too-

Re: I bought a Honda

Hey, we understand.
My buddy up in Kennesaw just bought one too. A Civic, (I think) for the drive to work over by Norcross.

In Atlanta it's not the distance that kills you but the 2 hours of creeping along in traffic! Hwy 75 is my least favorite parking lot. At least is you get in a bender, it's not that "oh my truck!" feeling. You just buy another POS honda as your daily driver.

Good luck to ya,

Re: I bought a Honda

It's been great minus that fact that people ride my a$$ now and I still have the mentality that I drive a hunk of steel.

I wasnt able to find one on Craig's list for less than $2800 w/ 250k miles and some sort of mechanical problems. I got lucky

Re: I bought a Honda

106k is low miles for that thing. Sounds like a good deal to me. We had a 92 for a few years. Really enjoyed it.

Re: I bought a Honda

i love my truck and the way people move to get out of my way when im driving it but at like 7 mpg i cant afford to drive it anymore.. gas is coming down in price yeah but just temporarially until they drive it to an all new high. My answer was to get the corolla.. i have an 02 with like 90 on it now ( got it with like 87K a month ago and i get over 400 miles per tank and love it
only thing i had to do to make it driveable was to add a cd player to it lol

Must be nice. We have a 99 and it barely clears 280 miles per tank. It's "empty" at about 11 gallons. Mostly all city, about 26-27mpg average. I got a hair over 400 on the interstate from SC to NY, but the little light had been on for quite some time, that tank was 35mpg.

Welcome to the family. I have owned 8 Honda/Acuras and will always buy Honda when a good car is needed. I range from 36-45 mpg, I have even got 50 mpg with a little hyper-miling techniques.

Those TB 5.7L's go forever! My grandpa has one in his '92 shortbed, and the truck is rusting out, and the motor is still running strong with almost 250K miles

Re: I bought a Honda

I dumped 14.75 gallons of 87 oct in it last Monday at the low price of $3.99/gal. Pulling out of the office yesterday my Empty light came on and I made the drive home...in traffic...and hit the driveway w/ 450 miles on the trip odometer. 30.5 mpg's!!! I've never owned a car before much less a vehicle that gets 30 mpg's. My truck has been my daily driver and I was squeezing somewhere between 10-13 mpg's out of it w/ high octane depending on how I was driving. I needed to make the change!

Zumo, the car came w/o the owner’s manual and I was trying to figure out how to check the transmission fluid (car on / off...hot or cold etc.)... I joined a Honda forum and those jokers all contradict each other so I have no idea! It’s the 2.2 ltr 4 cyl w/ the Auto Trans. I did read somewhere that you check Hondas when the are cold and w/ the engine off… Just thought I’d run it buy you- THNX

We have a 2000 Civic, love the thing! It is your typical silver 4dr DX. If only GM could build cars as reliable and get the same MPG.
