Re: Help me guys...

did the 1.5-2 inch black sponge like spacer go back in between the door and panel on the window crank?

Re: Help me guys...

I could be wrong (I probably am ha) but arent the internals and other door stuff different from 73-75? What year did you pull the regulator from? I assume by your sig your truck is 75?

Re: Help me guys...

Probably a change in year, I'm not positive, but it could be.

On my 72 f-100 I put some window cranks from a newer models cause mine were beat and they had a gap about like that. Of course that is a ford though. Perhaps you could just pick up a set of handles from your local yard. Shouldn't cost you a buck for both.

Re: Help me guys...

i think the 81-87s are longer due to the different door panels, may be wrong though.

Re: Help me guys...

Hmmm, I need to rethink my post. I think gafiredog is right. So putting new handles on won't make it any better. You are pretty much left with replacing the regulators completely. Hopefully someone who has run into this will chime in.

Re: Help me guys...

GAfiredog is correct. Measure the shafts of the one you pulled out and the one you put in.....I'll bet the new one's longer.

Re: Help me guys...

The length of the window crank arm was lengthened in 1977 when the door panels changed . If you use the 77 up regulator in a pre 77 truck , it will look like that .

Re: Help me guys...

Ditto on what Frank said. You have 77-91 regulators in a 73-76 door. There is no "fix" to it other than getting the correct regulator.
