Converting from 4x4 to 2WD
I have a 1972 GMC jimmy that has the wrong springs for the lift and just generally poorly put together. I want to convert this to a 2WD. I have a mid 73 to 78ish 2WD pick-up chassis has anyone ever tried this before? seems to me the front end should bolt in after being centered and of course after all 4x4 crossmembers are removed. Any help would be great! Thanks Ed.

Re: Converting from 4x4 to 2WD
Welcome to the board from Seattle.
I believe the front should be fairly close to a bolt-in project with some possible holes needing to be drilled. For the rear, you can put the axle above the leaf springs. Trailing arms can be added, but you'll need to do some modifications. You could also go with a custom rear system. Airride has a complete rear, but I'm not sure if it bolt on to a 4wd frame. There have been lots of conversions on the board and I'm sure we'll see more in the future. Here's an article Sport Truck Magazine published a while back. - http://www.sporttruck.com/techarticl...ion/index.html Post some pictures of your Blazer when you get a chance.

Tons of great conversion info on the board, do a search and make sure you've got some extra 'reading' time.
