cool night out.. cruise and pics

Spent the afternoon replacing a tach, the one I bought about a year and a half ago on a whim had gremlins in it as it would work, not work.. get stuck at 7K, and this since I got it running a couple of months ago, so I couldn't take it back. ... anyway, found one half the cost, it looks better, it matches better and best of all, it works perfectly. (I'll post pics later)

So, after I was done (it's actually mounted in the dash so it took awhile and a few mods) figured its' so nice out and I haven't driven it in a few weeks, I'd better test it out. It's a nice cool night (about 80) cranked the windows down, turned up the tunes and just went driving around. Couple of thumbs up and smile from cutie in a Mercedes. I tell you what, I see exactly why we love these things. They are soild, very good street manors and once you get on it, roars and puts you right in the seat then takes off. I tell ya, it's like having your very own roller coaster.

Here are couple of picks of my truck so you know what I was tooling around in tonight, it was dusty in the photos.. I know, bad owner.

Please feel free to post pics of your "rush"

Love your truck, especially the drivetrain

It is fun driving old iron around, not much like them on the streets anymore. And when your out and about people get a glance at them they can't help but stare as you drive by

I really don't have any bling on mine, but it is a solid clean driver

Re: cool night out.. cruise and pics

I pulled in to get gas the other day with a short frame and what was left of a cab(rust issues) on a trailer and had 4 people come up and ask me about it.It took me 30 minutes to get out of there, lord knows how long it would have took if it was a driver like yours.

Hey 67shortie, your truck is almost exactly what I want to do to my '67, right down to the wheels, what drop/size tires do you have? Thanks, Lew

Hey Lew

It's a 4-6" drop from Early Classic. The wheels are Vette style ralleys 15x8 with 235/75/15 in front and 285/70/15 in the rear. They are very large tires in the back, I bought them when I was running a TH350 to keep the rpm's lower on the freeway (3.42 rear gear) but now I run a 700r4 the combo, it wants a shorter tire to not lug the engine down do much at freeway speeds. It's kind of weird to have the engine start coming alive around 80 . I will probably go to a 275/60/15 soon, even slight winds and small upgrades kill it

Enough of me yakkin' thanks Jim!

Your truck has turned out awesome. Great job! If you don't mind what kind of A/C compressor and brackets are you running? Do I see it clearing tall valve covers on the build thread or am I just seeing things? Keep up the good work.

By the way which voodoo cam your running?

Thanks for the complement!

Anyway, the compressor is a Sanden 508 style and the bracket I got from Grove. It clears the valve covers just fine.

As for the cam, it's part number 60102, .469-489 lift, 262-268 duration and I have 1.5 rockers. It's a really good combination I think with the heads I have. The truck sh-ts and gets when you open it up.
