engine swap

is there a crate engine available that will bolt up to existing transmission and motor mounts for 71 gmc?

you can put any motor you want in that truck and alot of knowledge here to help you do it!!

This my friend is the great thing about GM!(one of the anyway) They have used the same bell housing (transmission bolt pattern) since the beginning of time. Motor mounts will depend on V8, I6 or V6. The motor mounts can be moved or changed pretty easily though.


If you stay with the size and type you currantly have then you shouldn't have any issues at all.

There are a million companies that make a remanufactured crate engine for the older GM vehicles. Or you can contact your local GM dealer and get a crate engine from the factory.

GM and others make tons of different crate engines for small and big block applications.Scoggins-Dickey and pace are two of the largest crate engine dealers for GM but even your local Chevy dealer should be able to hook you up.You can also checkd out some of the car mags and find crate engine copares in them(usually with contact info).
BTW GM now makes a crate stroker at 383 CI
