Gustav You were still a PAIN!
Unpacked the shop so we could get the car out of it. Not too much though as I have a feeling I'll be doing this again soon
Even though it wasn't a bad storm, I still had a full truck load of debris/limbs to clean up. Did some work on cleaning up and priming an old telephone switch rack to use as shelving in the shop.. No pictures as I was just to HOT to operate a camera and work. Ok, it is not really hot, just 40,000% humidity Rant over, time to loaf and surf!!!

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
Gustav was just a little worse than our normal summer thunder storms.
I sand blasted some small parts today and tried to paint them gloss.Turned out flat.I guess the humidity caused it.Had to repaint them. And my shop is stuffed full.Plus, since I live on high ground,I have friends and relatives vehicles parked all over the place! Thankfully, this storm was a dud!Especially for New Orleans sake! Mike. |

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
I got slammed by gustav. Lost the chimney (AGAIN! Lost it 3-4 months ago in a storm and the guy who was suppose to fix it aparently didn't.) There telling us two-three weeks before i get power at my house cause of all the down lines, also being told two-three weeks before I can return to work cause we have no power. so now no work, no money, no money means no play.

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
Palf, I'm glad you didn't get too much damage. I went to Gulfport twice with a church group to do Katrina cleanup (one of the guys in the group used to live down there) and I'll never forget some of the stuff I saw. All the Gustav hype made me pull out my photo album a couple of days ago and look through it again...anyway, I'm glad Gustav was a little more polite than Katrina.

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
I can thank Gustav for the rain we've gotten since last night. It's now rained all day, and my basement (where I live) is starting to attract a little moisture

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
Only thing coming positive out of this, instead of Fema handing out checks and people sit on there asses and not fix there stuff, Fema is only reimburssing(sp?) you only if you have the receipts. No hand outs this time. Learned from Katrina i guess

Re: Gustav You were still a PAIN!
Damn what a mess. I live on a cul-de-sac with only 22 homes on it. Every single one has a tree down. Thankfully only one through the house completely and through some miraculous outcome it was the one house that's unoccupied and up for sale. Anyone up North need firewood for the winter? Gotta maintain a sense of humor.
Only took just shy of 4 days to get power here which is another miracle. Baton Rouge and areas of southern Livingston Parish are looking at anywhere up to 21 days from Entergy's latest advices. Lord knows how long for those around Houma. I do agree Throwback, it's completely different this time around. I'd guess 1/3rd of the people had generators down our street. Instead of hogging them by themselves, people allowed neighbors to run extension cords off each other. BTW I am just a couple of miles down LA16 from you |
