Re: Surf Blue
Truck is looking great! While you have the bed off, can we get some pics of your notch, air tank and compressor mounting?

Re: Surf Blue
I'll post some pics of the notch ,tank, and other stuff in a few days.
Yes the color is called surf blue. The brand of paint I am using is PPG, but you can get that color in just about any automotive paint line. |

Re: Surf Blue
More progress. First off , the wheel tub project is fully completed, along with the inner bedside mod as well. Actually it's been done for a couple of weeks. The avalanche effect came into play and I decided to get some sound deadener. I picked up some Dynamat ,and covered the whole inside with it. This is my first time to use Dynamat ,and so far I'm pleased with it. I also picked up some black carpet to cover the upper, inside firewall where the factory carpet doesn't reach. Speaking of factory carpet , I picked up a factory carpet kit from a local swapmeet here in DFW. While I was there I also picked up a new core support. (finally) I'll be installing it later this week after I paint it black.
The passenger side door managed to make it's way back on the truck, after fighting me every step of the way. Five of the six hinge bolts (on the cab side) decided to strip out. So I got to re-tap the holes and put better bolts in. Fun, Fun! Either way it's coming along. Hopefully I can have some more sheet metal on the truck soon. That's all for now. |

Re: Surf Blue
69....... Great work your doing on that truck. Using the Dynamat, do you have to use a heat gun to get it lay that way or does it lay out like that automatically?
Keep up the good work. Eric |

Re: Surf Blue
Awesome build, perfect stance.... I have never seen a 18/20 wheel and tire combo that looked so "right"! What is the black stuff on the places you shaved...marker lights, mirrors? Keep it up and you will have one sick ride!

Re: Surf Blue
First: No heat gun required, just roll it on withe the roller they sell.
Second: Yeah I looked at it real good ,and decided I wasn't up for all that work. So I think I'm just going to raise part of the floor. Third: The black stuff is called One-Step, it's a rust converter. I just wiped some on there so I'd have something on the bare metal until I got it bodyworked. Thanks for all the compliments. |

Re: Surf Blue
A little more progress. Got the new core support painted and installed, along with a new battery tray ,and new hardware. While I was at it I got the passenger side fender back on the truck ,and fitting propperly. The wiring needed some attention as well so I cleaned all that up, and got it looking much better. I'm hoping to get the driver side door and fender back on the truck soon. Either way ,I gotta get back on the bodywork so here's some more pics for now. ENJOY.

Re: Surf Blue
Subtle progress to report ,but progress none the less. First off I replaced the trailing arm bushings with new ones. So now every bushing on the truck has been replaced. I managed to do a little trading on some valve covers and scored me some black Chevrolet ones, minus the black breathers they're on the way. The billet ones I had were too difficult to keep clean, plus I've wanted these for a while.
I decided to pull the steering column out and paint it since it looked like crap. I painted it silver ,and it looks pretty good, but it will look much better when the new shift lever ,and turn signal lever show up. While I was working on the inside of the cab I decided to get some more Dynamat ,and lined the back wall ,and the inside of the pass. side door with it. The roof has been stripped, bodyworked, and primed. It is currently waiting the second round of priming and blocking. I had to put priming on hold for a few days so I could get my new air dryer system installed at my house. I scored a Devilbiss air dryer system for FREE. It only needed 28$ worth of parts, and boy was it well worth it. After I got it installed I shot my hood hinges flat black to test it out, it worked excellent. Painting small things at my house is made much easier with it installed. That's all for now , I'll post more when I get more done.
