I understand the clutch now in that it needs to be the same as the input shaft. Any ideas on throwout bearing and spacing of the trans with respect to the length of the input shaft???? Strider |

Re: T5 5-SPEED to stock bellhousing - rotation
Strider, read post #9 above and follow the link I provided in that post. I'm not trying to be rude, but I sent you the link once already and you're asking questions that I've already answered, especially in the other link. Get rid of your S-10 trans and just use the Camaro trans-you'll be glad you did.
Oh, btw if Ontario has lot's of hills and mountainous areas like the Pacific NW, I'd keep the 4.10's out back. While the 3.73's are good I'd go 4.10's with a 250 in a 4100lb truck if I were to do it all over again.

Re: T5 5-SPEED to stock bellhousing - rotation
I am getting ready to put a 92 Camaro V8 T5 into my Nova. I'm going to use a 11 inch car aluminum Bellhousing. The original bell on my T5 is a 10.5 clutch so I assume the S10's are too. If you plan on using a 67 and earlier truck bellhousing and any year truck flywheel(I think they are 11 inches) you will have to get a clutch disc from an 85 Astro 4.3 because they came with 11 inch clutches that match these splines. I think Camaros and S10 only came with 10.5 clutches.

Here is another link that might give you some good info. He put a T5 in a 50 Chevy P-U.

Re: T5 5-SPEED to stock bellhousing - rotation
just my 2 cents!!
i had a T-5 borg warner behind my 327 sbc and had no problems with fit up it had a 26 spline, 11" clutch, stock camaro bellhousing, stock truck z-bar,links, and clutch fork it worked great!! only thing i made was and angle bracket for the 30 degree trans mount and a crossmember!! ( i will try to get some pics of it!!) i recently sold the motor and looking for th400 automatic and soon hopefully selling the T-5 as a kit which comes with every thing!! i thought borg warner did make a T-5 that can handle up tp 310 lb/torque!! were they called the world class series?? correct me if im wrong!!!

Re: T5 5-SPEED to stock bellhousing - rotation
Yes, the WC tranny's are stronger and have a better bearing system. That's what I have in my truck now. IIRC, '87 & up Camaro trans were WC and the S-10's didn't get it until much later.

I guess you could find a older mechanical (nonhydrolic) 10.5 bellhousing, smaller flywheel, and matching starter to use the stock T-5 clutch with.
