bbc swap in 69 frame
Hey guys,
I have a '72 shortbed cab and bed on a '69 frame. I've done the front spindle swap already but I want to put a '76 3/4 tone camper special 454/turbo 400 in that truck. Can I use the frame stands/perches and motor mounts from the '76 in that truck? I'm sure the springs won't be strong enough but that's OK because long-term I am going to bag it anyway. They'll hold up well for now. My main question surrounds the perches. Which perches will I need to run that 454 in a '69 shortbed frame? Thanks, Colin

Re: bbc swap in 69 frame
I've seen everybody say you can use just about any mounts it seems.. 'cept the 250 and 292's.. - I believe the 73 and up will work with a bit of hole wallowing and maybe drilling one more. There's a ton of threads it seems if you do a search on it. I'm using a set of 72 only BBC mounts (clam shells) to put my 454 in my 72. I've also seen a 572 mounted on just regular BBC stands in a shorty 67...
I'm sure others will chime in but in the meantime, do a search for "BB mounts 73".... that should get ya started.

Re: bbc swap in 69 frame
the 73 - 87 frame mounts are a bit taller than the 67 - 72 frame, but it can be done. I placed washers between the frame and mount, and if I remember right, I may have had to cinch the mounts down a tad.
