Rubber Seals around my Window

I have those big black rubber seals around my front and rear windows. I was wanting to know. Can I remove those and replace them without taking out the glass? I see that some trucks have the chrome molding around the windows. I like that better. Could I buy the chrome molding and swap it out? Is that doable. I'm sanding the truck down to paint right now, and instead of masking the rubber and having little bitty spots of a different color that you can always see under there, I was wanting to just pull the seals out and tape up the glass and paint it and then stick the rubber back in. Is this done pretty easily or is it a big hassle to mess with? How would I go about removing the rubber seals? If I removed the seals and worked on the truck for a few months would the glass move on me and make it hard to get the seals back in? If I have to take the whole glass out, forget it, I'll just mask it. What am I dealing with here?

The seal is what holds the glass in the truck. Take it out and the glass comes with it.

Yes, you can pull them out (actually cut the old seals) and then replace them with new ones. Don't waste your time with old seals once you remove them. You can go with the style with the chrome trim but you have to buy all of this chrome trim and the seals to match it. It is somewhat harder to install then the basic black ones.

If you are sanding it now is the time to replace the f\r rubber and sand that area also. Bad about rust under front rubber.parts board is the place to check that windshield chrome.have fun.buddy

Pull the windows and sand/paint that area.No sense in having the under rubber rust come out to play on a new paint job.

Pullem out and clean it and have it painted with the truck. Better off than letting it mess up a good paint job when it starts showing.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Be sure if you do remove the glass dont PRY on it.Take a razor knife and cut the lip off the inside of the cab and the glass will push out.

...and remember that the stainless trim goes into the rubber, after the glass, and before it goes into the opening.

Re: Rubber Seals around my Window

Alrighty then, this is good, I'm going to try the water hose option.

Does the back window come out the same way?... just pull the rubber back or cut it off and pull the glass and rubber out together??

Now, what about putting it back in?? Is there an easy way to do that?
