Re: Which headers manual trans.?
This is all small block,right?
Everytime this comes up we here this and that and no real concrete answer. From what I have observed,I have come up with a pretty surefire answer. All this wonderin`and problems guys have had and my neighbor buys a hot-runnin` longbed truck with an auto to tear down and build a 4spd shortbed. He figured he`d just swap everything around.I asked him about the headers and if they`d fit.He never gave it a thought.Well,he just slapped it all together,no problem.I just had to know what headers those were."I have no idea",was his answer. Another guy had Doug Thorley Tri-Ys and a 4spd.He moved the pivot on the frame back a 1/2" to make it work. I`ve been told Hooker Super Comps work and had others say they didn`t.I`ve bought Headman Elites because someone said they worked, but haven`t tryed them. After alot of comparison and checking out I see what is needed. The driver side rear tube has to either come straight down off the port or,even better, run forward slightly down to the bend into the collector. No angle towards the rear. This is on full-length headers. The Tri-Ys are kinda funny. The driver side and passenger side run completely different. The passenger side runs like a Chevelle header (3/4) at about a 45 deg. along with the floorboard. The driver`s is more like a full-length,but the collector exits at about a 45 deg. instead of squaring up with the frame rail. So,you need a sharp bend after the collector which makes the pipe hand down like a full-length,if not worse.I was going with those, but I`m still not sure.

Re: Which headers manual trans.?
Hooker Comp worked fine, right after I moved the top leg of the Z outboard by 1.25". Oh, and I got two driver's side headers in the box. All is good now, but geeeez.

Re: Which headers manual trans.?
I've had dynomax, hedman and hooker, with hooker being the best fitment. All three needed modification to the z bar, but hooker required the least with hedman requiring the most. jmo
