wheelin and dealin
Hey Ho,
Does anyone know what year and truck this wheel maybe originally from. It is on my 1969 Chevy C10. I have not seen any info about this wheel coming from the factory on my truck. It takes the bigger hubcap like the 3/4 ton models. Thanks for any ideas!

Re: wheelin and dealin
That looks just like the 16" rims on my stock trailers. If a moon hub cap pops right on----they are trailer rims.
john ps---they are the same as the ford and chevy 16" rims from the 90's I think

Re: wheelin and dealin
They are 15 inch, but this brings up another question. How are wheel sizes determined? I'm asking because this wheel is 16" across on the outside, yet it has a 235/75/15 tire on it.

Re: wheelin and dealin
It's a 15 then. Always subtract 1 inch length and width wise. Always works for me.

Re: wheelin and dealin
It looks like the spare that came with my '69.
To measure the diameter of any wheel, you don't do it across the outside of the wheel. The tire drops down inside of the lips on either side, and it is that diameter inside of the lip of any wheel that determines the diameter of the tire that fits it. As stated already, you can subtract approximately an inch from that O.D. to get the diameter of the tire that should fit it. Somewhere on the wheel, you should find something stamped into it that MAY read 15x5J. I can't say for sure, but you can know (when you find it) that it would be a 15 inch diameter, 5-inch wide wheel, with a specific lip on the wheel. All wheels have this information on them, somewhere....aluminum or steel or any other suitable material.

F- 15638 is also stamped there. And thanks again for looking and helping me out. Only a fool would ignore the experts that come to this site!

Re: wheelin and dealin
It may be stamped on the inside of the wheel and only visible when the tire is removed.
It could be either a 15 x 5.50 F or a 15 x 5.50 K. The difference is that the "K" wheel has a .56 offset to run the larger tires of the day, i.e., 7.75 or 8.25 tire. The "F" wheel took a 7.00 tire.
