4X4 cab bolts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am having trouble locating rear 4x4 cab mounting bolts. I guess that they are 7/16 x 9 1/4. I know that i can build them out of all thread, but, I want to know if these long bolts are out there. I have tried GM, Lawson Bolt, Granger, McMaster-Carr... anyone?

I have tried a lot to get screws that long and ended up making them out of threaded rod. One of my tenants in the building is a
fastener manufacturer and they checked their sources and could not locate any either. I can get them special made but the cost is unreal.

Jim thanks for the reply, my local chevy parts manager has been looking for me for months, Nothing! How much to get 1000 made? Then 2 for you 2 for me and sell the other 996. lol

Hey fellas. I don't know how much you think is too much, try www.boltdepot.com they carry anything you need. I ordered from them when I put the 1" body lift on my blazer and wanted to go back with GR.8 . You should be able to get 2 bolts for just a couple of bucks.

They make them. I just installed all new bolts and rubber in mine a few weeks ago. I got mine from LMC. The bolts came with the rubber kit, but I think you should be able to buy them seperately. Good luck.

If you are mounting the cab normally (no body lift), the 3/4 ton 2wd mount kit and bolts are the same as 4x4 ones. I've used them on 4x4's before with no problems. Any of the vendors carry these kits and bolts

CPNE are the 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton 2 wheelers different? I was told 2wd won't work, but if 3/4 ton are different, who knows?

3/4 ton two wheel drive and 4x4 rear cab mount bolts should be the same. I have never needed to buy a kit, just bolts, so I am not positve about a kit containing the right length bolts.

Do we know that GMC Pauls has the the bolts for the 4x4 or are those for the two wheel drive. I could not tell from the description.

3/4 ton 2wd are different that 1/2 ton 2wd. I bought the 3/4 ton 2wd kit from GMCPauls and it worked perfectly on my 4x4. 100% positive based on actual experience. The kits include all the rubber bushings, washers, bolts, and nuts just like original.

At least that is one way to get the rear bolts for the 4x4 cabs. I have only looked for bolts, (not kits).

Yes sir. GMC Pauls has a "cab hardware kit" BUT, it is for 1/2 ton 2 wheelers. This kit has bolts (no grade marks), spacers, nuts, & washers. No rubber. No listing for 4x4 or 3/4 ton. They also have a kit with all listed above and the rubber for both 1/2 ton 2 wheelers and another for 3/4 ton 2 wheelers and 4x4s.

Call GMC Paul he will tell you and sell you exactly what you need for the 4x4. I am doing the same thing first thing in the AM. Also be sure to ask what the exact torque is on the 4x4 mounts as this is real important on how the truck rides and handles. If they are too tight they will be stiff and not work properly resulting in a harsh ride. My 1971 GMC chassis service manual says 20ft. lbs on all body mounts 2wd and 4wd (except #2 rear what ever that means and says #2 rear is to be 50 lbs. I think # 2 rear is for Suburbans and Blazers but I am not sure.)

Thanks for all the help guys! I have the bolts in hand. LMC truck sells a grade five bolt for c20, k10 & k20 p/n30-0289 $1.95 each. (I bought 6 for future use).
