another crazy one!
that thom taylor sketch in R&C of truck cab based "trucksters" a few years back inspired quite a few out of the box builds. some were good, and some were not... this one turned out pretty neat IMO. he started out with a gmc cab.....
check the link for some build pics. \/ http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...albumId=619820 Last edited by jonzcustomshop; 10-19-2008 at 07:44 PM. Reason: fix link |

Re: another crazy one!
That's awesome! He really nailed that drawing. It looks like he's doing his roadster pickup style, vs. the sketch's modified style, which is kool too!

Re: another crazy one!
If you look at the build pictures it looks like the doors have bondo on them? How do you think he makes it look like metal? Did he remove the bondo?

Re: another crazy one!
what you hardly ever see in big $$ builds is the process in between bare metal and paint.
bondo has had such a bad rep over the years, that they don't want you to see this part of the process. after bare metal, the vehicle is skim coated with plastic filler,or high build primer, and blocked to prefection. most of the time you only see bare metal pics, and then painted pics. the filler might not be any thicker than a 1/16 of an inck , but it is there.

Re: another crazy one!
In the first pic you see filler in the next pic it looks like bare metal whats up? Filler sounds so much better then Bondo.

Re: another crazy one!
would have been cool if he could have done a fleetside bed. also in the description of the rendering the guy said it had chrome reversed wheels. just wanted to obtain some old school knowledge here but what type of wheel is involved in this.

Re: another crazy one!
The "old school" version of a reversed wheel is this:
the center of the wheel would be cut out, and then flipped around, so that the deep inside part of the wheel was now on the outside. then they were chrome plated. this was mainly done in the 50's to early 60's before the prevelance of custom aftermarket wheels.
