Re: Homebrew rust removal help
you can also soak parts for a few days in vinegar been doing that for engine parts from my indian and theres no explosive hydgrogen gas to worry about//i can just stain the vineager and use for salad dressing thankgiving for the freeloaders that visit to go to the turkey rod run

Re: Homebrew rust removal help
Here's a real home brewed rust remover --- linked article talks about the chelation power (rust removal) of Molasses !!!!!
Haven't tried it yet, but sounds believable. http://www.wr6wr.com/newSite/article...06/wp0906.html |

Re: Homebrew rust removal help
Here's the the page I used to clean my decade old headers....worked like a charm! Did take a couple of days though....they were pretty rusted.

Re: Homebrew rust removal help
I've read aticles where they have made a pool with molasses and cleaned a frame with good results. I haven't used the Molasses derusting but have used the washing soda and battery charger. The problem is the hydrogen fumes and if you use an SS electrode you end up with nasty cadnium and other chemicals you don't want around your kids and dogs. If you use the washing soda use a steel wire mesh and make it surround the part your cleaning. It does take some time so be patient.
