Headers with ground clearance
These look like they will stay tucked up above the frame. Says they fit up to 65. I have a 66. I called Patriot to ask them why not a 66. No help there, " if it says 65, there must be a reason" was what they told me. I'm going out on a limb and assuming they will fit 66's as well. I'm not missing something am I?

Re: Headers with ground clearance
sbc headers Most will fit different years.. i had 68 chevelle long tube headers on a 75 camaro block in my 62 and they worked just fine and had plenty of room so the "years" are for like the "correct years" but if you can find some that will work better for your application they will. Those are the style im going to run to get the clearance from the ground from air bags

Re: Headers with ground clearance
The Patriot will work well. I used shorty's for 88-98 pick-up w/out much issue. You can also use shorty's for 80s Camaros. The block huggers that dump in the center have a tite corner w/ the X-member.
45* out of the shortys and head for the frame holes in the other posts/thread that you were asking about. Im sure you were already under there with your 3.5" hole saw last nite, right?

Re: Headers with ground clearance
I'm holding off on cutting the hole untill I get the headers on and see exactly where the exhaust will run. I also need to get some metal to reinforce the hole, and to eliminate the bump on the bottom of the crossmember. Lucky for me I still have a million other things to do on this truck to stay busy. If it wasn't caked in undercoating it was rusted. Either way it is time consuming to clean it up.

Re: Headers with ground clearance
I'm running Hedman mid length headers that look basically like the Patriots you showed above. They give plenty of clearance and will allow you to tuck your exhaust into the frame instead of hanging below the frame.

Re: Headers with ground clearance
UPS dropped them off yesterday. I went out this morning to see how nice they fit. No suprise, need some work to bolt them in. Tranny cooler lines are in the way, no biggie. Drivers side motor mount needs some clearancing. I'll try to get some pics when I get it sorted out. Does anything ever go smoothly for me? Nope.

Re: Headers with ground clearance
Welcome to the world of custom truck building ) It's pretty much the same for all of us and the things that look like they will be the easiest usually turn out to be the hardest. Best of luck getting them to work. You can do it!

Re: Headers with ground clearance
I hear ya ChopperDr... I installed bags on my 'burb and everything I thought I was going to avoid I ended up doing anyway!!!!! I now have all new brake lines to all 4 corners. If you get it done while your in there it will save you time in the long run. Just tackle it one at a time.

Re: Headers with ground clearance
Are you planning to get them ceramic coated before final installation? It's money well spent. They end up covered in rust in no time if you don't. That might not matter to you but I hate rusty headers. I just bought a set of Hooker Super Comps for my Slant 6 Dart and took them to Jet Hot to be coated with their sterling silver ceramic coating. They look super nice and have a lifetime rust thru warranty. It will cost as much or more than you paid for the headers to get them done though. That's the down side.

Re: Headers with ground clearance
The headers will be coated. There's a local shop here that does some nice work. http://www.performancecoatings.com My Harley has had the pipes done as well as the jugs and heads. They also did their treatment to the cam. Seems to be working pretty good. Hasn't been opened up scince it was done though.
