Hey guys, thought I would share a few photos of my project. it will be some time before I get thing where I want it, but the end results should be sweet.

this one shows the empty rear of the frame, the new rear suspension will come to life soon and the stepside bed will return as well some day......

looks like a good start, frame looks to be in real good shape...how is the body? I see in your sig you want to smooth the firewall, I just smoothed my firewall, can post pics tomorrow if you like.

WOW! That frame is in amazing condition for a '73 (I assume that's the year).
Up here, where road salt and sand are used to increase winter traction, a 30 year old frame would not look like that. Fortunately, these older frames have some substance to them, so they last despite the metal hungry chemicals on the road. Have fun with it - - I know I would

Zilverado, i just bought a '78 frame for mine. looked at a '73-74 as well, but it was slightly bent on the front so i passed on it. you'd be surprised how well they can hold up if properly taken care of. mine is in almost as good of condition as customchevy's.

bigblock73: sure, would love to see some shots. I did some metal carving the other day before it started raining. it sure is fun to cut that metal out of the firewall.
The biggest/most difficult part I have to work on right now is the frame. I have decided to ditch the original frame in favor of constructing a new one out of rectangular tube steel. Going to be some serious work, but I think I will be pleased with it in the end. After I get the frame done, the rest will be downhill from there. Thanks for all the encouragement! This is gonna be fun!

bagged78: nice looking blazer, that'll be a fun project!
87gmc: there are several modifications that i am working on, having a new frame will be, for me, easier to do than just hacking on the original frame, plus tube is more visually appealing i think. i will be using almost the same specs for the most part, but the front and rear ends will be considerably different from stock due to new suspension packages. |

1 piece window glass
i've been told its almost impossible to have 1 piece window glass made for our trucks. if you figure out how to do it, you stand a pretty good chance of making some money for yourself. i know i'd buy a pair!

One piece door glass is something we all would probably change to if it were a reality, but it's not. No one makes it and will be way in the future if and when they ever do. Of course you could do like some and stick a piece of plexiglass in the hole, but it won't roll up or down.

here is a chopped up photosuite image of how my truck might possibly look when finished. note that the bed is shortened and the fenderwell openings have been shortened as well. i am only going to to use 15's all around most likely, so i thought it would look cleaner with the fenderwells tighter. the original picture that this is based on, is of a stepside that was at the Autorama in Dallas.
The ddor was open in the original pic so i hacked on it a little to get it "more closed". just a glimpse of what it could be. the top is chopped a few inches, but the windshield is layed back an additional 10 degrees. looks pretty sharp with the lay back, i think.
