GM choke delete emblem - what's the difference with these?

I have two GM choke delete emblems, the left one came from my 68 and the right one from a board member... My 68 one has rounded edges and the other doesn't. Same part number on the back...

Anyone know the history with these? I know that mine was a divorced choke so it had this on the upper right hole. New bezels have "choke" on them though so I have to figure out how to cover that up...

Hmmmmm.. good question.. I have two, both out of 68 1/2 tons.. both have the "squared" edges.. I have never seen a rounded version..
I have had one that was plastic with a metal black wrinkled finish center screw on piece.. the plastic part looked like a blank "throttle" or "Choke" bezel..

Look at the outside corners....

The one I have has the square corners.

Re: GM choke delete emblem - what's the difference with these?

Other than the corners they are identical front and back...

I wish the left one didn't have pits since it's my original one... I'll show the other issue with the new bezels next week when I get home...

I recall another thread awhile back on this and it seems there were 3 different versions of that. I'll see if I can find it.

Do you think one might be factory installed delete button compared to a dealer installed button?

Re: GM choke delete emblem - what's the difference with these?

I have one like the one on the right....

question....how would I go about repainting it??....what kind of paint would be best??
would I paint the whole thing and wipe off the GM part immediately??

OH...msgross...just curious...do they both have the same part number on the back??

yep, same part number, everything except the corners is the same...

I think a decent modelbrush and some flat black paint would work. The original black has a "squirly" kind of design in it that can't be redone... You could probably put some drops of paint in it and roll it around to cover the corners, then wipe off the chrome if it got messy...

Re: GM choke delete emblem - what's the difference with these?

Hey Mike,

what would be the best way to repaint this??...Should I paint the whole thing then immediately wipe off the GM....Also, what kind of paint should I use?

Thanks
