Welcome from another Northern Cal user. The flip will put your axle on top of the spring, I think I still have a kit I bought and didn't use. I'll check the shed after work tomorrow and let you know.

The kit I have is similar to this one.

There are a few options depending on the drop desired. The axle flip for the most.I`m not sure of the exact measurement.Figure the height of the axle and spring pack.ECE makes lower springs for a couple inckes,I think. There are replacement spring hangers that lower mounting points an inch or two.Longer shackles give 1/2 the extra length. Some take leafs out to fine-tune.You can use combinations of these methods for a given height.

I am in the midst of lowering my GMC as we speak and have discovered, If you use the flip kit it will give you almost an 8 inch drop and you will have to "C" notch the frame, Brothers trucks has a "mono" leaf spring that will give you a 4 - 5 inch drop, (kinda spendy at $400), longer shackles will give a 1 - 2 inch drop, I havent seen the replacement sping hangers yet.. Special-K who has those??
So far I have cheated, (just because I had the parts laying around) I used spring hangers and springs out of a 72 Blazer 4X4, put the axle on top of the springs and it gave me the exact ride height I was looking for. (it does take some drillling and mods to the front hangers)

Re: How to lower 67 gmc with leafs

ECE sells 4" drop leafs for $299.00 a pair. That would be a bolt-in mod, no welding required.

They also sell 1-1/2" drop shackles for $59.00.

So for $360 in new parts, you could drop is 5-1/2".

Re: How to lower 67 gmc with leafs

My 72 has leaf springs and a c-notch. It was dropped when I got it, but it looks as if the springs were de arched and a leaf taken out. They also turned the big thick one upside down. I saw a jig on the HAMB that someone made to de-arch a model A spring. They used a small jack to do the job. The same thing could be done with your truck springs for cheap.

I wouldn recomend this set up. Its either just the leafs or the shackles, I used them both to get the max drop and the truck rode like s*** ! I ended up taking the shackes off.

What made it ride so bad? Was it bottoming out on the frame?

It didnt bottom out, the ride got very stiff when I put the shackles on, I know
kinda weird but with the shackles off, the ride was a lot better.

I`ve seen them for`73-ups.A friend put them on an`84.I`m sure they can work on earlier trucks.Maybe not quite bolt on.I don`t think he bought from LMC,but I think he said they carried them.

Re: How to lower 67 gmc with leafs

I went with the ECE lowering leafs only in mine.
Ride is considerably rougher than stock, but, I guess you are gonna pay the price with leafs.
