Rechargeable batteries
ok i have a question that im sure some could answer. I have a few of these batteries and i was wondering if they would be good used for any applications for our trucks. Little acceries or even for the power for my bags? they are rechargeable and durable they have been sitting in my warehouse for over 4 years and still have a full charge a normal battery charger in the pic can recharge them. but on their website it states about 7 amps an hour not sure what that means. Sry for the long essay

Re: Rechargeable
Don't think you can use that for much...possibly a battery back up to your alarm system if main battery dies or is disconnected

Re: Rechargeable
yeah thats a good idea, a back up for yout door poppers. Should have enough current to power alarm system and leds and when needed enough to pop your door. I 've done this on a car but I had seperate 7AH batteries, one for alarm and one for alarm.

Re: Rechargeable
I don't know if they have enough amps for the door poppers but they should run led's or act a backup for alarm systems or keep the clock and system squared away on cd player or other head unit.
I like the idea of having an alarm system wired to one so that if the main battery is disconnected the alarm still functions. That might prevent someone from popping your hood, cutting the battery cable and towing the truck off. |

Re: Rechargeable
i got about 7 of them and i wanted to know if i could connect them all see if that would be enough for the poppers and leds and then have another solo for the alarm alone. im going to build a tray for them to they are accessable and i can recharge when ever needed and see if it is possible for the bags

Re: Rechargeable
In theory 7, 7AH batteries in parallel "could" supply 49Amps continuous for 1 hour or 490Amps for 1/10th of an hour. Wiring limitations and the real world will dictate what you can actually achieve. Also the typical lifespan of an AGM battery is 4-7 years and yours have been sitting for 4.

Re: Rechargeable
Mathmatically it should work 7 batteries in parallel out puts 12 volts but current adds up to you will have 49 amps to power door solenoid, I would even try less batteries if space is a issue. A 40lbs autoloc door solenoid draws under 35 amps( thats what fuse size they recommend). I think they would even if you only used 2-3 batteries in parallel if its only for the solenoid. Hook a few batteries and jumper it to your door and test it.

Re: Rechargeable
P.S. I think the 7 AH rating refers to how long the battery last if a 1 amp draw on battery, so it should last 7 hours at a 1 amp hour draw....so with that revelation my math on the previous post is screwy...

Re: Rechargeable
They look like the backup batteries for emergency lighting.I doubt they will be strong enough to do much with. They are also almost at the end of their service life. And to top that off with the weight of 7 you may have the same weight as one vehicle battery and use up more space.
JMHO and $0.02 worth.

Re: Rechargeable
IMO, not worth the trouble. I am a licensed electrician. these batteries are used in security panels and emergency lights. They will not last many more yrs.
