Hi - new to the site - Question on side/saddle tanks
Hey everyone. Im new to the site – just picked up a 72 ½ ton chevy long bed with power steering / brakes and AC. I live near the Fremont plant where the truck was build. My question has to do with the trucks side/saddle tanks. They seem to be very common in the area and I was wondering if its just common with the chevy trucks or it was a dealer install. I still have the cab tank and thanks to this site I know how to move it to the back. I was wondering about installing 2-S10 tanks to replace the side/saddle tanks and if anyone has done it.

Re: Hi - new to the site - Question on side/saddle tanks
Hi and welcome from Maryland.
I`ve never heard of S10 tanks being used before.Maybe someone has done it or you may be on to something. There were companies making auxilary tanks for various popular vehicles. Many were installed when new by dealers and they were a popular add-on available through RV shops.In`72,the factory offered an auxilary tank option on longbed Fleetsides. They were located on the driver side with a filler up high,no door. The tube ran down the inside wall of the bedside with a boxed cover in steel.

Re: Hi - new to the site - Question on side/saddle tanks
I have a longbed Fleetside. It has a gas door with a camper lock on both sides between the rear wheels and the cab. I ask because I see a lot of trucks from that era with the same setup.
think trucks at my parents - needs a brake job and when Im up there I'll take pictures of it |
