Pictures as promised
Here are the picture of the 68 I picked up last night.
Any idea what it will take to put an original front grill back on? First things first. Have to get the wipers working. Has the motor but no switch in the dash. Looking behind the dash and I dont see any wires with a plug so Im gonna have to try and figure out which wires go where. Also going to have to fix the fuel gauge or buy an aftermarket gauge. Need to go to a junk yard and find some seat belts as it only has one and I need three. Not to bad of a truck. Think I paid a little to much at $4,000 but that was all I could spend and this one had the newest engine and trans compared to the other ones I looked at within the price range. Wife still thinks Im crazy for giving up my 2001 GMC for this one. She says I need to finish my roadstar chop before starting this one. Lol

Re: Pictures as promised
Im happy with it. I was'nt expecting a perfect truck. Plus parts for this will be a heck of a lot cheaper than for my 01.

Re: Pictures as promised
Nice buy! I think 4g's isn't that bad for a good truck. Looks like you'll need a full front 68 clip. Appears to be 70's clip. Good luck!

Re: Pictures as promised
Looks like a good purchase!
Question, do I see both a hand E-brake and a foot E-brake? What year is the cab/truck?

Re: Pictures as promised
That looks like a great project. It needs a few little things, but looks pretty decent the way it sits. You can tinker as you go.
I see a hand brake and a limp clutch pedal

Re: Pictures as promised
Nice looking truck and a fair price. I sold a '97 Z71 and bought my '72 a couple years ago. My neighbor bought the '97 and has had to replace some expensive parts and I see the value falling on it everyday. Meanwhile the '72 is just cruising right along. My wife thought I was nuts (still does), but she will get over it.
Keep everyone posted on the progress and good luck with it!!!

Nice looking truck.
4K looks fair to me. Unfortunately, you'll need almost a complete 68 clip. Off the top of my head... You'll need outer fenders, all grill parts, hood, hood latch, splash apron, bumper (not sure if you already have a 67-69 or 71/72), you can reuse the core support, but it will need to be modified some.

Re: Pictures as promised
Looks like putting a 68 front clip back on is out of the question right now.
That is a hand e brake and old clutch pedal. Most of the trucks I found around the 4g price range either had a worn out engine or full of rust. This one has a fairly fresh engine and not that much rust.

Re: Pictures as promised
Nice truck and great starting point. I have to go against the flow though and agree with your wife. Every time I've sold a newer truck to start fixing up an old one as my daily driver, I end up regretting it. Is it your daily driver now?

Re: Pictures as promised
I disagree.....I drove my daily driver 67 for 4 basically trouble free years.......When things did go bad,It did not break the bank or require any (special tools) as in computer diagnosis or a lift..........Just my O.2

Re: Pictures as promised
I wasn't speaking in terms off reliability, or cost of repair (personally I'd rather diag a new truck anyway), but in terms of comfort. The old stuff just isn't as nice to drive as newer stuff.
