Oil Pressure Gauge
They factory oil pres. gauge in my '68 comes on and stays on the whole time the truck is running. But I have an aftermarket gauge installed, and it seems to work normally. What would cause this to stay on?

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge
Do you mean the idiot light comes on and stays on, but your mechanical gauge show good pressure? If you disconnected the old sending unit and didn't move it out of the way, it could be grounding out on something causing the light to come on. This has happened to me before.

I haven't had a light for the oil pressure in a long time, but I believe that if you disconnect the sending unit, the lite is supposed to come on. It was my understanding that once the oil pressure built up, the sending unit would shut it off... I think. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong... |

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge
It's just the idiot light in the gauge cluster. It lights up red and stays on

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge
Mine has been diconnected for years, never comes on. I always had a mechanical oil press. gauge, so I took it off a looong time ago.
