Need a pic-HELP!!!
Can anyone post a couple good pics of the engine ground straps for the 6 cyl. 250 engine, prefer '71-'72 years, but looking for anything for a reference. Looking for factory original reference pics. Out of the gazillion pics I took during the teardown, somehow I missed these.
Thanks!!

Re: Need a pic-HELP!!!
Not sure about a six, but the V8 went from the right rear valve cover bolt to the firewall as far as I know.
The other part is that there were multiple straps. Its tough to find things in the assembly manual w/o an index or TOC. Engine to cab Front right inner fender battery, frame or core support (I've just observed a connector at the front of the inner fender) Front right cab support to frame Bed cross support to frame Kits seem to have 5 straps, but I'm not remembering where a 5th strap goes. Sorry no pics. I flipped through the AIM but didn't stumble across anything. I tend to think of it as the engine gets the best ground since the starter pulls by far the most current. The engine is grounded to the cab, the cab to the frame, the bed to the frame. Then the core support should have a good ground to run the headlights, etc. but its hard to tell what GM was thinking since I haven't found the remains of straps... |

It would amaze me to see anyone be able to tell where they were actually supposed to go.I doubt the assembly people put them where they went though that far back they may have.I would guess they put them in the easiest spot to get to or left one out here and there.I worked with a former Furd employee who told me to always take the left door panel off of a 73-74 T-bird and put in the 5th screw to stop the rattle. He claimed it was a pain to get to and that they all left it out, especially during hangover Monday.
