67 door and door handle ????

My body man made me a 72 door out of a super nice 67 door by adding the screw dimple off a 72 door. Somewhere I heard that a 67 door is different than the 68-72 doors. It has to do with the exterior handle or something. Were the door handles different in 67 or is the door itself a little different. I am just wondering what kind of problems I am going to run into when i try to put my door back together. Does anybody know what I am talking about or am I crazy.....Jason

67 doors have a different vent window in them (that latch is on the vent window frame instead of the in the glass)
And the access holes in the door are round instead of teardrop shaped

Also the inner door & window handles are different

Like Spray-Bomb said,it`s really just the round access holes. The inside handles are interchangeable and you can use`68-72 wingvent latches and class. There`s no whole in the`67 glass.

The 67 outside handles are different. The bolts go in at an angle. There is a backing plate inside the door you need to drill holes in to use newer outside door handles.

Re: 67 door and door handle ????

I am using 72 vent windows and 72 regulators so I am not worried about this stuff.

So, is this something I need to fix before he shoots the paint. I would hate to mess up a $10,000 paint job.

Re: 67 door and door handle ????

Here is another link to this issue. I removed the plate inside of my passenger door before paint, but forgot to do the driver side. Looking at it I think I can just drill holes in the inner plate from outside without hurting the paint. I would make sure to get them to fit before paint if given the choice.
