Muncie M-21

Ok here is what I am doing. I am hoping someone else is doing this. My 69 LWB is getting this: I am going 454, Muncie M-21 4 speed and a 4:10 posi. I dont have this mocked up yet cause I am still working on stropping the rust off the frame. I was thinking the begin with was the cut the floor hole in the side of the hump for the shifter and use a shifter hump like out of a GTO or comparable A Body GM. My next thought was the cross member. I almost think I am going to have to fab on up or modify an original one.

Has anyone else tried this?

Re: Muncie M-21

I'm going to use a sbc with a m-21 in my '67 swb, I was going to move the trans x-member to the proper location. I can't remember off the top of my head but I think it only has to be moved back a tad. I also purchased a shifter from hurst for our trucks P/N 391 0002.

I use a car belhousing (w/o mounts)The trans has a rear mount that bolts to an automatic crossmember.

Re: Muncie M-21

I have 383 M 21 3:73
I used a flat piece of steel plate for the x member. Just drilled holes and bolted right up. half hour job. 1/2" thick by 3" wide.

I did the same as 67cheveall with the crossmember. No problems, oh I used the car bellhousing also.

Re: Muncie M-21

The only issues we have seen are that there are appearently "NO" long tube headers made by anyone in the free world that will fit a 68 swb C-10 manual trans. truck...I am open for suggestions though.PPPPLLLease
