I got a Rust Problem
above the winshield on the inside there is a lot of rust on every cab that i find around here in the northwest. All the rust forces the seal down and you can see all the rust. On most of the Trucks i can take a screw driver and push it through the metal right above the review mirror on the inside. I was wondering if that was ablt to be fixed by putting in a replacement part or just with a little bit of work. Or am i going to have to send it to a body shop to have somebody do it for me.

Re: I got a Rust Problem
You must be on the ocean side of the mountains up there.
They do make a repair panel that will fix you up, on the inside at least. How is the cab on the outside?

Re: I got a Rust Problem
Mine has the same issue in the corners. They do make a repair panel for the insde per above but i have not tried the repair. Waiting for some warmer weather. Hope you get yours fixed. Good luck.

Re: I got a Rust Problem
It can be fixed but it is a major repair. To me, unless you are up for cutting, grinding and welding it would easier to find another cab.
I would head a little bit inland and you should be able to find you a cab that does't have that issue.. I am just south of Seattle and just accasionally find them rusted in the upper windsheild area. so good ones are out there but will admit you probably will have to check out more that a few.. If I can help you out in any way shoot me a message. |

Re: I got a Rust Problem
I don't know what metal the repair part comprises, but the part is out there for those who need it. How is the rest of the cab? Does it have anymore issues that you know of? How about the cab corners, kick panels, rockers, the extensions at the bottom of the door posts? If all of this is good, then it may be that you just need to belly up and get to work.
On my cab, we're going to have to cut the windshield posts in half, then cut the cab across the floor, from door sill to door sill and that's just to replace the firewall. Except for the posts, nothing will be visible to the unsuspecting eye. A plasma cutter would be a great thing to have at your disposal, huh? Check Tri-Pro Automotive. They're located in New Jersey, but they have all kinds of rust repair parts. There should also be someone closer to you than they are, but I don't know who it is. We have a vendor in your area, too. He (Wes) has all the answers to your many questions.

There are a couple of vendors that are fairly close.. either PICKMUP (Frank) or Classicheartbeat (Wes), both are in olympia. Or take a peek at the vendor list on this site and possibly find someone closer to you.. I am not familiar with anyone north of me who may able to help you out.. |

Re: I got a Rust Problem
Click on the "Vendors" on the homepage. Scroll down until you get to one you want to know more about, and that will be all you need to do. So, yes....they have websites.

Re: I got a Rust Problem
I have rust problems too in that area. But i am going to switch roofs on my truck. The stepper is just starting to. So I have a cab that everything else is rust except the roof.
