Noob from Oklahoma! 82 GMC Shortyfat

Hello! Well... I'm from Oklahoma, proud alumni of Oklahoma State, I'm a flight instructor by day and a classic truck owner by night. I bought the truck about a year ago and have BIG plans for her. Right now it just has a standard 350 small block (which is fine) but I want to spice it up a little. My first project is to get the truck to sit right. I have a small rake angle with the rear end in the air. I haven't figured out the best solution to fix this yet. I'm not real familiar with c notch so I don't know if that is the way to go. Possible mono leaf maybe. At any rate I joined to further enhance my knowledge of my favorite classic truck. Thank you all for your knowledge!

Re: Noob from Oklahoma! 82 GMC Shortyfat

welcome from europe , the best way to get the front down in my eyes would be to use dropped spindles as they keep the geometry the same , the cheaper way is chainge the springs .
if you only lower the front to get the rake theres no need for a notch and if you dont want to drag the frame on the ground but want to lower more than an inch or 2 removing the bumpstops and bolting in a small notch like they sell at companies like suicide doors would do the trick it does require cutting a piece out of the lower part of the frame .
if you want tru choice of rideheight all the time you could chainge to airbags but thats a bit more work and costly .

i would love to see some pictures once youre done

Re: Noob from Oklahoma! 82 GMC Shortyfat

Thank you all for the welcomes! I'm looking forward to building up my truck with you all. I'll have more pictures as I progress through different modifications I want to do.

Hellboundsteel, that's awesome that you lived in OK! Goes to show you it's a small world.
watahyahknow, I'm thinking that airbags will come later just because of the said expense. My truck does of drop spindles. Maybe a flip kit would bring the rear down where I want it. Very interesting ideas!
