99-06? Seats in a 73-87?
HI guys.. I just scored a set of 02 GMC seats off ebay. Has anyone done this swap? Only problem I can see are the gas tanks in the way of drilling any new holes on the outside... but otherwise I'm hoping I can make them work.
If anyone has done the swap please post pics... any helpful tips are appreciated too. Thanks! Tony (great forum btw!) |

are they the two buckets with folding center consol? i looked into this swap for my truck but thought id have to change the mounting brackets on the new seats because they'd sit too high...

They are like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=290282390860 I hope I can make them fit. I got them for $150 so I thought I'd be worth a try. |

I can understand a bench seat working... but I'm looking at buckets and the middle jump seat..... guess we'll see when I get them. They'll prolly end up on craigslist.

Re: 99-06? Seats in a 73-87?
Hey
If you are expecting them to bolt up they probably won't . but this board is all about being creative and making thing work . take your time and think it out. you will have to modify the mounts by adding or cutting . THE IMPORTANT THING is that the seat belts are integrated to the seat so how ever you mount them they need to be EXTREMELY solid good luck and please post if you pull it off I had a 2000 silverado with the same seats and would love to try it someday in my 84 Mark

Mark, I thought about that too with the seatbelts. I have a local guy here that specializes in these types of conversions. I'm going to have him take a look and see what he thinks. If it too much of a deal, I might stick with the bench, but I wanted to at least try. If it happens, I'll be sure to post pics with a 'how-to'.

Re: 99-06? Seats in a 73-87?
I`m not doing the same seat but I`m trying to fit a 91 seat in my 84. I need to get another set of factory tracks because the 91 tracks put the seat way too high plus they need to be cut up a bit. Any chance you can use the factory tracks and just build a frame for them? I`ve seen some custom tracks for 73/87 trucks in summit or jegs for the aftermarket bucket seats with the center console that flips up for a center seat. Maybe those would work for you.
