What to look for?

When buying a used motor in running condition out of truck? 327 or 350. 68 - 72

Any ticks, knocks, gouges, cracks, anything that sounds weird or looks weird.

If it's in running condition, & if you can, run a compression test.
And, what's the oil pressure?

Those will give you a rough idea of how the top & bottom ends are.
