heater controls

does anyone repop heater controls for a 84? I`ve only seen the ones in LMC and they were fro 74-78 IIRC. If nobody makes them for my 84 can i install the earlier ones? I don`t care that they won`t look rihgt I just want them to work correctly. My defrost lever jams up a bit when moving from heater to defrost and I`m afraid I`ll snap it off like the fan switch. My old 75 GMC had the same problem only it was stuck on heater.

Re: heater controls

you can still get those over the counter at a good parts store like Napa... if you can not find them there, I know that Year One has them.

Re: heater controls

Thanks. I didn`t know I could get just the levers. Well if I replace the levers whats to stop it from doing the same as it is now? I`d like to have smooth working levers that I don`t have to worrie about breaking off when I move them back and forth.

Thanks. I just looked and the only one they have for my year is for A/C which I don`t have. Will the 81-82 heater only style work in my 84? Is the wiring the same? Should just plug in right? Another thing is I do plan to add a Vintage air A/C kit down the road. Does the A/C controls have a different harness? Can I use it with my heater only till I can afford to swap in the A/C?

Re: heater controls

Found a part number for the heater controls for a NON-A/C 1991 suburban that shoud work for you. part number is 16034561
Only one dealership shows to have one in stock and that is...

DANIELS CHEVROLET-BUICK-PONTIAC-GMC SUPERSTORE
(478)237-4111

365 E MAIN ST
HWY 80 & 56
SWAINSBORO, GA 30401

Give them a call and see if they do indeed still have it and what they want for it. It could very well work for what you need.
