Reassembly advice

Work on the 55 first series truck we bought a couple weeks ago is underway.

The front left cab corner was rotted out, so I removed the door and fender for access. I also took out the front grill and just to make things easier for painting and since I was in the mood, took off the right front fender and door as well.

So it is just the cab on the frame. Front inner and outer fenders and grill are painted and ready to put back together after the cab is painted.

My question is what is the best way to put it all back together? Would you recommend assembling the entire front clip and then install? Right now I am looking at putting inner and outer fenders together, then installing those on the truck, followed by the grill and bumper.

I could get it back together but realize there are many people out there with more experience than myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Reassembly advice

I think you need to fit the hood first, and then the fenders adjust from there

Re: Reassembly advice

That is the process I am going to do this time on my 53, fit the fenders to the hood.I remember having trouble getting the fenders to fit the rad. core support and the inner fenders with out scratching them at the front. Maybe leave the bolts loose until you have the fenders lined up with the hood on the side and front. GOOD LUCK !!

Re: Reassembly advice

So.....put the radiator support in and get the hood fitted to the cowl.....then move on to fenders and such.

I'll give that a shot.

Thanks!!!
