Another blazer tank install completed

I got it all finished today. I think it worked out pretty good.

The PO already did a good job closing up the fuel filler hole in the cab which is great except that this is how I have been filling my tank (and smelling gas) for the past year!


I got two reducers from the auto parts store and then had my exhaust shop weld them to a custom bent filler pipe they also made.


I am using the stock filler location on my '79 model bed which I think is cool.


I didn't have to drill any holes, used to existing holes on the side of the frame for the rear strap, and two existing holes on top of the frame for the front strap. I removed the small cross sill, relocated the larger cross sill that holds the bed to the frame just to the rear of the tank and there happened to be two holes in the frame for it.


Wheel well shot. This is with a flash at night, we'll see how it looks during the day. I used a generic fuel rated hose from Oreilley ($30).


You can see a few things here. The filler line stays out of the wheel well until it gets well in front of the tire. The line also stays above the rubber axle stop. I used hose clamps on the hose to help it keep it's shape since it wanted to kink on the bend. I will try to think of a less redneck looking way to strap the line back too, but it works for now.


Still doesn't hang too far down even without a rear bumper.

You have me confused, the pic with the in cab tank shows the fenders to be the correct ones, but the rest of the pics the fenders look to be later model ones. Is that right or have I lost my mind.

haha yeah, I have been planning this upgrade for a LONG time I took the cab shot last year, and have been holding on to it ever since in my to-do folder. That was my 5 foot bed that was all cut up by the PO. I corrected the hacked up frame, and needed a correct size bed, and got lucky finding a complete '79 bed for cheap so I put that one on.
