Long shot...tire and wheel question

Anybody running 275/60/15s on a drum to disk conversion truck with 8 inch wide rims and a 4.5 inch drop in front? If so could you post a pic?

This is what I was planning on using, but just sliding the wheel on to one of Livrats trucks set up this way looks like it may be a no fit.

I think the backspacing was 4.5. I hate to have to go to narrower rims since these are paid for (wheel vintiques plain steel).

Ill be running same size tire and rim on all four corners.

I think you'll need a shorter tire. I've got a 2.5 drop and there's about an inch of clearance with a 4" backspace on disks when turning. My drop is all spindle.

I had a 15X8 ralley with a 255/70/15 tire with a 3-1/2in drop and the tires would rub when you turned it all the way to the right or left.

i have 3 inch spring drop in the front with a 6 lug drum to a 5 lug disk brake conversion and i drive 18x8.5 wheels with 255 55 18 tires on them with no problem at all!

Well thanks for the info fellas. Looks like Im going to have to go a different route with the wheels. The tires are purchased also. I wanted to stay with 15s and have plenty of sidewall.

Panel trucks look really huge and I wanted a tire that wouldnt look tiny on it, but I didnt want bigger bling type wheels. Going for a 60s look.

Here are the tires. Diamondback radial redlines. Ive got that black and red thing going inside and outside

I'm running 245-60x15's up front on 15x8's with a 4-inch backspace with a 2.5-inch dropped spindle and on rare occasions I have had a tire to rub on something if the surface of the pavement had a "blemish" and I was turning the wheels as I was driving. I can't think that your desired wheel/tire combo would work at all. I don't think I would want any more sidewall than I have now....aesthetically or any other reason.

As for the '60s look....I can see the redlines, but not that much tire. I can see the drop in altitude helping to eliminate some empty space around the tire, but (again) not as you had wanted to do.

Now, put the redlines on some chrome reverse wheels with a set of old Cal Custom Blackjack caps (similar to '60' Ford hubcaps w/o the logo), and you'd be on your way to a look that I liked in the Sixties. Yeah, I remember the Sixties....never inhaled.

Im just going to go with a little smaller wheel and not as much of a drop. If I have to Ill go with a drop member. My problem with the drop member is I dont know if the steering will work with the way you put a Caddy 500 in.

Ive looked all over for chrome reverse wheels with the 5x5 pattern with no luck. Im not talking the smoothie chrome reverse, I want the real thing. I prefer that look without the caps though...to each his own =)

In the end it will all get sorted out and Im pretty sure Ill have a cool looking ride thats also drivable.

i have 15x8 et-19 (3 3/4" bs) Ultra Type 164 wheels front and rear. the rear tire is 275/60-15 and it fits fine. any more back space than 3 3/4" would rub on my truck though as i can see where the rubber nipples on the tires were initially rubbing. Up front i have 225/60-15 and they fit good. initially i had 245/60-15 but they rubbed. my truck is dropped 4.5" up front and 6" in the rear.

Cg- I have exactly what you are looking for! I run 275/60/15 on all 4 corners. Rims are 8" with 3.75" bs. I have 2.5" drop spindles and cut almost one coil which brought it down about 2 or 2.5" more. No problems with rubbing. The first pic shows my truck with the 2.5" spindles only. You can see the gap above the tire. The last two pics show the truck with the coils cut giving it betwwen 4.5" and 5" drop in the front. I love the stance but plan to drop the rear a tad more. Hope this helps you. I would prefer the the narrower 245 tire up front or a 7" rim.

Im with 70c10, I have 2.5 or 3 inch drop lower A arm and have cut one full coil off. for aprox 4.5 to 5 inchs of drop and run 8" wide rallies with 275/60/15 tires and have never rubbed at all. even when turning or going thru dips. Hope this helps , sorry dont have any pics .

70c10 and Hipper...do you guys have front disks? When you switch to disks it widens the front track an inch or more on each side.

70c10 I really like the way those look. I think Im going to need the bigger tire to help with the panels proportions.
Panels are just huge...even compared to a burb they look huge even though they are the same size. With the burb having all those windows it cuts down on the massiveness.

The disc's are the key...When I went with disc brakes up front (2/4/drop)...and then...installed factory 15x8 GM Ralleys...I had wheel rubbing issue with the front wheels when I turned sharp.

Yes I have disks. The first pic shows my truck right after the disc conversion with the drop spindles only. I wanted "more" drop so we cut that coil off and the new stance is shown in my other two pics.
