Question Brake Boosters...is there a difference??

I see LMC sells brake boosters for drum drum set ups and drum disc setups and I was wondering if there was any difference in the booster? I have a booster I would like to put on my C20 and I have a drum drum set up, just wondering if it would work?

Re: Brake Boosters...is there a difference??

If the part numbers are the same, it's the same booster. The differences could be in the mounting or other subtleties. The master cylinders for drum brakes are different than those for disc/drum combo's, so it's plausible to think that the booster could be different. Check out some other vendors and see what they have. A consensus of different part numbers should tell you what you need to know.

Have you tried NAPA, or anyone local? Just because these trucks have a number of aftermarket vendors doesn't mean you have to look for antique-oriented suppliers for common hard parts like brake boosters.

Re: Brake Boosters...is there a difference??

I haven't looked around for one...I already have an original one and I want to put it on but just wondering if there is a difference between drum drum and drum disk boosters? If what I have will only work on drum disk I will have to buy one for drum drum. Thanks for the info.

No difference between boosters. I just did a drum/disk swap and I am using the existing booster from the drum setup for the disk setup. Everything works fine.
